About When We’re Older (Past Lives):

This piece is a reflection on grief, gratitude, and the emotional complexity of mourning someone who is still living. Inspired by the film Past Lives and James Blake's "When We're Older," the work explores the transient but profound nature of human connection-the comforting realization that people enter our paths for a specific purpose, whether we are ready for them or not. Created as an act of letting go, the painting is a reverence for what was, what is, and what will be. The inclusion of palo santo directly on the paper serves as a physical grounding element, turning the act of painting into a ritual of emotional release.
