About Sarah Hawkins

Sarah Hawkins (Sarah Marie Hawkins) is an abstract expressionist painter based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her work explores the depths of raw emotion and vulnerability, capturing themes of adventure, intimacy, and profound personal transition. Working instinctively across acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and scorched materials, her practice embraces spontaneity, heavy texture, and constant transformation.

Most notably, Hawkins incorporates fire and acts of ritual destruction directly into her process. By relinquishing control to the flame, she allows chance, emotional release, and renewal to dictate the final form of her art.

Deeply influenced by music, memory, and the fleeting nature of time, her paintings act as a visual record of the human experience-offering a space to mourn, celebrate, and ultimately return to ourselves.
